overfishing and destructive fishing practices post1

By

In addition to harvesting large amounts of fish. large amount fishing operations catch and sometimes kill UN targeted marine life.

Some types of ecosystems affected by overfishing can include albacore tuna bigeye tuna bluefin tuna and some coral reef

overfishing depletes the population of adult fish and doesn’t leave enough fish to reproduce and make new fish.  this can be caused by illegal fishing, unregulated fishing and unsustainable fishing.

Illegal and unregulated fishing constitutes an estimated 11 – 226,000,000 tons 12 to 28% of fishing worldwide.

Short term effects can include removal of essential predators, Poor coral reef health, growth of allergy and unintended catches.

some long term effects can include loss of livelihoods for fishermen forcing them to work somewhere else.

Loss of other important marine life like turtles and coral.
