I believe that solar power should be offered to Haitian residents for a cheap price. Haiti is a poor company with 59% of their residents living below the poverty line. To people with this low of an income, affording electricity can be a big problem. Only 38% of Haiti’s population has access to power, and this is far too low. Plus, the majority of people who do have power rely on charcoal for power and this furthers the rampant deforestation issue plaguing the nation. With solar power, it would also help against the pollution problem which is all to prevalent in Haiti.
This issue is very important to me and it would greatly aid the people of Haiti. If we get more funding and more people involved with the organizations providing this power to the people, we can greatly speed up the process and get power to the rural areas of Haiti. Cheaper access to power could also bring some residents of Haiti out of poverty and help them live a good life with power. If everyone works together to help the organizations building this infrastructure like World Bank, we can make Haiti a better place to live for it’s population.
Using solar power for the people of Haiti is overall a great idea. It benefits both the people and the environment of Haiti by both lowering pollution rates and giving everyone access to affordable energy to power their homes. With the low prices given by the people providing these resources Haiti most of the population can afford it. For many years Haiti has relied almost purely on fossil fuels for their energy needs. On the pollution index, the air pollution of Haiti is a 70.83 which is considered high and quite polluted. With renewable energy, this problem could be easily stopped alongside helping the people of Haiti afford power.
In conclusion, this could be beneficial to everyone in Haiti in every way possible. With affordable, clean power, the people of Haiti could live happier and healthier.
