Coal Mining In South Africa Activist

Fikile Ntshangase was a 65 year old lady who lived in KwaZulu-Natal. she was concerned about the health risks about coal mining and  spoke out about it. 

I chose Fikile Ntshangase because after speaking out about the risks of coal mining in South Africa a group of men broke into her home and she shot her. Investigators say they were part of a coal mining company, which would make sense because she is activist and spoke out about the risks of coal mining and it could put the company’s at risk. 

Sikhosphi Bazooka Rhadebe 

Sikhosphi Bazooka Rhadebe  was the leader of the Amadiba Crisis Committee, a community-based organization to stop coal  mining activity in South Africa.  

I chose Sikhosphi Bazooka Rhadebe because he was also shot and killed after speaking out about the environmental Risks that coal mining has. If coal mining companies are really this worried about people speaking out that they are killing people should coal mining really be continuing.
