Do you ever wonder how coral reef is grown? Well I read an article about Indian using electricity to regrow coral reefs.

So the article I read peaked my curiosity about a marine scientists are using solar energy to regenerate extinct corals through a technology known as Biorocks. Coral bleaching is caused by the rise of sea water temperatures, over fishing, water pollution and other man made causes that hurt climate change. did you know when coral dies it turns white. “The last 20 years 3 global mass bleaching events have taken place causing 25%of coral loss”.

Well India is using Biorocks technology which uses electricity to regrow corals. “They use low voltage direct currents which run through metal steal work in the sea beds and are connected by cables to a power source such as solar panels, which would float on the surface of the sea. This produce limestone deposits with sea water and recreate coral at a faster pace. Drivers then remover the new coral into the Biorocks and rehabilitate them.”

Without the scientist doing this there would be a greater loss of the reef and a longer growing process of rehabilitation for them to grow back. But in India they are doing some thing even better they are using solar power for this process instead of electricity which is harder on the environment.

I do think solar panels should be used to support initiatives such as regeneration of coral reefs through biorock because you can use solar electricity to regrow corals. Solar power is the next wave for a greener environment this is such a great example of saving the environment and preventing coral reef from disappearing from the world forever.

My refences where from the internet, national geographic website and other websites that had articles about coral bleaching and global warming. Unfortunately I didn’t copy the websites that I used.

My text citations are in quotes but unfortunately I can’t recall what website I got them from but I know I quoted them from one of them.
