ByRoxane Boonstra- an activist from Canada situated in south Florida, she is in the Florida keys, she runs the Coral Restoration Foundation, (CRF) they have been restoring Florida reefs for 12 years and have planted more than 100,000 critically endangered staghorn and Elkhorn corals back into the Florida reefs.
Marine biologist Julia Baum of Canada’s University of Victoria is one of many marine Canadian marine biologists helping to save the planets coral reefs from many problems including coral bleaching.
Julia Baum says “Coral reefs are like underwater rainforests, they produce some of the oxygen we breathe, so to let them get bleached and do nothing about it is wrong.” Julia believes that Coral reefs are some of the most important underwater ecosystems there are.
Between the two people I have researched, Julia could do the research and gather information about dying coral reefs, and Roxane could do the hands on helping the coral in person work, she manages her entire organization, so her and her team could help out quite a bit by doing the hands on research and helping the coral in person.
