Coal Mining In South Africa Limiting Factor

By

Coal mining in South Africa has an effect on humans in many ways. For example when coal mining makes air pollution it can give humans cancer, respiratory illness, lung disease and many more diseases which can cause death. This causes limiting factors because if it people breath in this polluted air it puts them at higher risk of dying.

Coal mining also effect humans by loss of land because coal miners need a big spot to mine and even after there done they can’t use the land again because it’s destroyed and polluted with acid mine drainage. If humans don’t have enough land it will cause places to over populate and there might not be enough food or fresh water. This will cause limiting factor because if there’s not enough food or water some people will start to starve and die.

Another way coal mining in South Africa effects humans is how coal mining pollutes the water. The water gets polluted because heavy metals like copper, lead, cobalt, cadmium, and many more metals get into water supply. When these metals get into the water they make the water undrinkable. This will cause limiting factor because there might not be enough clean and drinkable water and if there’s not enough water it will cause people to start dying.
