Coal mining in South Africa is the process of removing coal from the ground and it affects the eco-system in many ways, just to have a place to mind they have to clear trees, plants and soil which destroys wildlife habitats. After they are done mining for coal the land is polluted with acid mine drainage which is toxic  and it can’t be used for anything so it just sits there. Coal mining in South Africa can also cause soil erosion which is the displacement of soil, flooding, acid rain, global warming and air pollution. Coal mining can also effect humans because the air pollution that coal mining causes can cause asthma, cancer and heart and lung illness. There are 5 different coal mining companies in South Africa such as Sasol mining, Glencore xstrata, Exxaro and Souths32’s and they are the main reason for coal mining. Coal mining is bad for the environment and should be stopped
