Limiting Factors in Haiti

By

The primary limiting factor in Haiti right now is deforestation and soil erosion. Deforestation means that there are less trees for the wildlife of Haiti to live in and/or around, and soil erosion means it’s more difficult for some plants which other organisms rely on to survive in the wild. The problem of deforestation in Haiti has been around for a long time and is a very serious issue for the countries biodiversity. The soil erosion is a direct effect of the rampant deforestation across the nation. Haiti is also a relatively polluted country from all of it’s industrial pollution and it’s also prone to natural disasters quite often. Earthquakes, tropical storms, hurricanes, and other natural disaster can kill many animals. Haiti has already had the 2nd worst earthquake ever recorded killing approx. 316,000 humans and probably countless animals in the process. All of these things combined act as a collection of strong limiting factors that stop the populations of Haiti from getting out of control.
